2006 Yearly Winners
1st Place - William Roberts - $10,000 Winner
William was the "2006 Yearly Winner" with his song "Conquest". As an instrumental song, William believes that "Sometimes writing a song without any words is actually more challenging that one with words. You have to tell a story with the music alone. Mood, melodies, and true feelings are the only tools to really get the story told." Since placing in the Song of the Year competition, William has grabbed the attention of Don Davis (from the Matrix Soundtrack) and will be writing some new material for potential placement in the film industry.
2nd Place - Liz Kunert - $1,000 Winner
Liz is the 2nd place "Yearly Winner" with her "Lyric Only" submission "This Time". Liz states "I have been writing lyrics and poems as long as I can remember. They just come to me.... words that need to be spoken and heard by others. Thanks to the songwriting contest, I now have some published songwriters who I am co-writing with. Plus, one of our songs is being considered by a Curb Record Label singer! I also got to meet LeAnn Rimes through Song of the Year. This is all very exciting!"
3rd Place - Daryl Youngblood - $500 Winner
Daryl is a songwriting, singer, and producer. He is currently working on his new project consisting of Pop-Rock songs with unforgettable melodies. Daryl states "The unifying aspect in all the songs is the humanity and relevance the band expresses in its lyrics". Daryl has showcased in front of some major labels and he has also recently obtained publishing deals with his self-produced material.
