About The Lyrics

"Find Her There"

Randy Campbell's "Find Her There" has been selected as the "Lyric Only" winner in the Song of the Year songwriting contest. Randy had written the lyrics for his grandfather who passed away in January 2010.

Randy explains "These lyrics were for my grandfather's final hope in the world, to be united with his wife of 48 years who had passed on the year before. Losing her left my grandfather with nothing more to live for. She was the whole world to him and reason for living".

Randy continues "At the time, he was extremely ill and unable to move freely or speak cleary. The only time I heard him speak a word clearly after many months was his last word which I mentioned at the end of the song. With the health issues at hand, I would sit in his room for hours trying to comfort him. But comforting someone who has lost their will to live has many difficulties. It got to a point where the only thing that provided him comfort was his hope to see my grandmother one day on the other side".

"My lyrics tell a story about my last hours with him on the night he passed. He had the hardest time when he lost his breath and really feared he would die trying to catch it. This is what the chorus is talking about when it says 'sweeter than any breath you've dreamed of'. He had hoped to pass on in his sleep but unfortuntaely that was not the case".

"My grandfather's thinking about how he would soon be with the woman that he spent his life with in the afterlife gave him peace through the pain. These lyrics are my attempt to recall that night with him with hope that my words gave him the comfort needed. This song is dedicated to the memory of both Robert and Marion Campbell".

VERSE 1
In feverish flame you awaken the night's stormy moon
While it drips through the window and shadows the room
And the sound of the rain symphonies a thunderous reminder
Before dawn's splintered haze I know you will find her

CHORUS
May heaven be sweeter than any breath you've dreamed of
May these tears pave a path back to the one you love
It is my undying hope and my solitary prayer
Heaven is calling you home and you will find her there

VERSE 2
With the golden hue gaze of your whispering eyes
They sing me a song about your loss, love, and life
And how she was that winter wind now clouded by the sun
Your silenced song is but a prelude to a world yet to come

CHORUS
May heaven be sweeter than any breath you've dreamed of
May these tears pave a path back to the one you love
It is my undying hope and my solitary prayer
Heaven is calling you home and you will find her there

BRIDGE

A drifting gaze into vanished skies his trembling hand released mine
With stealing grace his closing eyes told me goodbye one last time
Somewhere among the hope and fear in between the stirring pain
With his final breath I saw his kindred smile softly call her name

REPEAT CHORUS
