Do I lose my ownership of the song by entering the contest?
Absolutely not. The ownership will remain yours. Neither Song of the Year nor any of its affiliates will own your song. It is not necessary to have a registered copyright to enter the contest. If your song is selected, we will be sending out your material to many music professionals. At this point it is strongly recommended that you register the work with the Copyright Office. However, to enter the contest, your material does not have to be registered. We will contact you if you are a winner or finalist before we send the material out so you will have time to get the copyright registered.
