Jared was a previous "Yearly Winner" with his rock song "Stereo". When asked what inspired Jared to write
his award winning song, he recalls, "I saw a Boston band play in New York City one night. The one thing I
loved about the band was how relentless they were. It was full on, all the time. It inspired me to want to write
a song that had that same vibe and attitude."

With the Song of the Year cash award, Jared promptly used it to buy a new computer which he uses in his
home studio. In regards to his experience with the Song of the Year songwriting contest, Jared comments
"They have been incredibly kind to me and generous with awards. They go out of their way to make you feel
special and that your song matters."

"I dont' know what more to say to the Song of the Year staff except for THANK YOU! I've been trying to make the right connections and now your company has hooked me up with a lifetime of potential. After placing in the contest, I have had some incredible offers from the people you sent my music to......" Sarah Miles

Song of the Year's past winner Keaton Simons

Keaton

Past Featured Songwriter

Keaton Simons was a past "Yearly Winner" in the competition with the song "Nobody Knows". Keaton
was awarded $1,000 from Song of the Year as well as some other great prizes from our sponsors.  Keaton also
participated in the 2005 Sundance Film Festival as a part of BMI's annual showcase. John Greenberg, the manager o
Nickelback, immediately saw the talent in Keaton and took him on as a client earlier this year. During 2006 the buzz around
Keaton has been out of control with two late night talk show appearances, one on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
and another on Last Call with Carson Daly, where he was asked to play a tune with Ben Harper. He was also brought in to
work on the Gnarles Barkley project, singing back-up vocals for Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse during the Coachella Music
Festival in Southern California.
